A Physical Therapy Evaluation provides a comprehensive look at your child’s development and function. During an evaluation, a physical therapist may look at one or more of the following areas:

• Range of Motion: How much movement a joint has and how this movement affects day to day function.
• Strength: How much force muscles can produce and if there are any deficits or imbalances that are impacting movement and function.
• Tone: How much resting tension is in a muscle and how that may or may not impact function.
• Mobility: How a child moves throughout their environment based on age and ability. This may include rolling, crawling, walking with support, running, using an assistive device such as a walker or wheelchair, etc.
• Balance and Coordination: The quality and safety of a child’s movements. Without adequate balance and coordination, a child’s ability to perform more complex movements is limited.
• Gross Motor Skills Testing: How a child’s skills such as walking, running, and jumping compare to peers of the same age

After your child’s evaluation is complete, you will receive a full written report which I will review. In addition I will create a set of goals to address your child’s needs and a home program to help your child grow.
